Diane Di Stasio – Candidate for NYC Council District 6

Diane is the daughter of first generation Italian immigrants. Her father spent his first career proudly serving in the American armed forces, which meant that Diane had to move around a lot, growing up mostly on military bases.
And while she has since graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music, performed at Carnegie Hall, won an Emmy Award, collaborated with the legendary Ray Charles, and spent the past ten years working as Managing Director for the Ellison Ballet Foundation where she oversees a multimillion dollar annual budget – Diane’s greatest accomplishment to date has been being a mother.
As a working single parent, Diane never saw herself pursuing a path in politics. And then COVID-19 happened. Over the years, she’s watched our neighborhood decline. She’s watched the crime, the grime, and the rising costs creep their way back into our every day lives.
That’s not the New York she fell in love with, and it’s not the New York she wants her daughter or granddaughters growing up in. That’s why she’s decided to roll up her sleeves and run for New York City Council in NYC Council District 6.
